* Family Table

Family Table is Boston ’s Jewish food pantry, serving over 120 families.  Each month, volunteers sort, pack and deliver two weeks worth of food, special holiday foods, personal hygiene items and paper goods to families in need.

         TBD collects crackers and couscous for the Family Table.

The crackers should be Ritz-like or Premium Saltine-like. These are expensive items for families living on very limited incomes. If you would like to make a donation of these items this month, please bring them to our Family Table collection bins, conveniently located in the Sanctuary lobby and in the “Social Action Closet”,

across from the entrance to the Temple office.

We always need drivers.  Deliver our donations to Jewish Family & Children’s Services, 1430 Main St. (Rte. 1 17) Waltham on a Sunday morning between 10 and 11 a.m.

Sign up sheet is on the Temple bulletin board or contact

Amy Fiorino at afiorino@comcast.net

* Partakers

Our program is up and fully running.
The Partakers Prison Education program Group at Temple Beth David is going strong with a new match, George, at a Norfolk prison. George is beginning his College Behind Bars' program and is very motivated to earn a degree. He's the first person in his family to take college classes.

* Wise Women Needed: The One Family Scholars Program

The One Family Scholars Program is seeking mentors to guide and support low-income women scholars in education, career development, and leadership potential. At this moment the One Family Scholars program is looking for women in the healthcare, criminal justice, paralegal, law and business fields.  Scholars are single mothers who work and go to school.  Mentors commit to monthly meetings over a one-year period and receive support and supervision.  For information or to become a mentor, contact Mentor Coordinator Toni Wiley at 617-423-0504 ext 217 or ToniBWiley@aol.com.  or see their web site is at www.onefamilyinc.org/scholars/how_to_help.shtml

*Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters (JBBBS)

Friend 2 Friend Program

Volunteers are needed by this program, which matches volunteers and adults with disabilities  (18 and older) in one to one friendships. In the traditional program model, our matches meet 2-4 times per month doing fun community activities of their choosing. In the MAGIC model, matches  meet one weeknight each month to enjoy a variety of events with other pairs of friends. In both programs the experience can add an important dimension to the lives of adults with disabilities by enhancing self-esteem and independence, strengthening Jewish identity, and laying the ground- work for enhanced social skills and interaction. For more information, or

to volunteer, contact Jan Klein at jan@jbbbs.org
