It is important to try to keep the routine and familiarity for the kids the best we can. Please tune in! See all the details you need below and look for grade specific emails to follow.

Following our opening communal time, all of our teachers are sending Jewish learning opportunities for you to do at home this Sunday morning (or another time this week). Stories, videos, and questions are included! These learning experiences are based on the class curriculum. Please look for a follow up email by grade, read the instructions, and take about 30 minutes to help your child/ren with the activities. Let Rabbi Karen know any questions. Grades 3-6: Hebrew sessions on Tuesday, March 24 OR Wednesday, March 25 Hebrew learning continues from home this week! Face Time with your teacher! In addition to the online Hebrew practice resources we sent in an email this past Tuesday, March 17 and below,Use this link to sign up for individual Hebrew practice time with our teachers starting this Tuesday and Wednesday. Look for your teacher's name and try to sign up during your child's regular Hebrew time. (Wednesday students can sign up for a time on Tuesday).Please sign up by Sunday, so that we have time to coordinate meetings and confirm contact information. In most cases it will be with your child's teacher; the rabbis and madrichim (teens) are also helping out. If there is not another Hebrew reader at home let Rabbi Karen know so that we can prioritize your time. Thank you for your patience as we set up this system.

Shorashim Family Shabbat Experience - Friday, March 27 Shabbat Dinner AT HOME (feel free to eat pizza if you want) We will send Shabbat blessing resources for your Shabbat table. Zoom "How to Make Challah Workshop" in the afternoon - stay tuned! 6:30 pmLivestream Shabbat Service for all ages - kids will participate We will be sending you more information about how students will help us lead virtually! (Younger kids are welcome to join in pajamas!) (Note: this is in place of Sunday, March 29 session) We will look for another time for the special presentation of siddurim (prayer books) to 3rd graders.
Kesher is the Hebrew word for connection. In these times of physical distancing, our connections and friendships are more important than ever! The long tail on the letter Kuf reminds us to reach out and connect. Call or email another family in your class and ask how they are doing. We look forward to continuing all our temple connections and friendships in the weeks ahead.

Hebrew Home Practice for Grades 3-6
15-20 minutes a week of Hebrew practice is encouraged and will really help. Please check your folders. Do you need a copy of a prayer? Let Rabbi Karen know and she'll send it to you.
Grade 3: Review lesson 16 and practice lesson 17 on Aleph Bet Quest online program. Practice reading Barechu (in your folder). Grade 4 (Roberta & SAM): Practice reading and chanting V'ahavta. Listen to the recording below and try chanting along. Grade 5: Review reading and chanting Avot v'Imahot and Gevurot. Listen to recordings below and chant along. Practice reading Kedusha out loud (Prayer Companion 2, page 26). Start to read Kiddush. Grade 6: Review the Friday night Kiddush and practice reading the Haftarah blessings (before and after).
