The letter ayin is the first letter of the word eitz meaning tree. Ayin is a silent letter (like aleph) that takes the sound of the vowel. In Jewish tradition we call the Torah, "Eitz Chayim Hi - A Tree of Life." Next Monday is Tu Bishvat, the Jewish holiday that celebrates the New Year of the Trees. We will celebrate as a Shorashim school community this Sunday with a special Tu Bishvat Seder. For those who have attended before, there will be some new twists this year! Please make sure to sign up to indicate your participation and assistance.
