The focus of this weekend is Shabbat. Several years ago with the Shorashim Education Committee, we created "Shorashim Shabbat Family Experiences" in place of Sunday classes on certain weekends. The goal was to make it easy for students and families to experience Shabbat at Temple Beth David with catered Shabbat dinners, family-friendly services, student participation, a relevant lesson, and enjoyable oneg (Shabbat treats). These were very meaningful (and delicious!) community-building experiences! While we are not holding large indoor meals at temple, the value of Shabbat celebration remains. Student participation in services is very connected to their Hebrew learning and is good practice. Shabbat, the Jewish day of rest, offers a little time to slow down, to pause and reflect, enjoy challah and wine, and be together with family and community.
With this in mind, you have a few options for Shabbat celebration this weekend. Options include Shabbat evening and morning services, in person at temple and at home. Please see the details below and let us know ANY questions. We look forward to celebrating with you. There are no classes this Sunday morning.
(All indoor services are distanced in the sanctuary/social hall with windows open and require masks and vaccination if eligible.)

Shabbat Resources for Home Celebration
The links below offer resources for you to celebrate Shabbat evening at home including the words for blessings around the table - candles, blessing for children, kiddush, challah and birkat hamazon, the blessing after the meal. There is a link for how to say the blessings and a spotify playlist of Shabbat songs to bring music to your Shabbat table. Make your own special Shabbat dinner! Get together or Zoom with another family if you would like.
