We hope that you are all well and healthy, and navigating this challenging reality. We know how important it is to keep our kids engaged in as normal a routine as possible. We want to make sure this includes Hebrew learning. Below you can find instructions for 3rd grade and their online learning program Alef-Bet Quest. We hope you will take your regular Hebrew time to practice at home. We will also be adding the opportunity for students to practice with their teacher via FaceTime, Zoom or phone call starting next week - look out for a sign up.
We will miss seeing you. We will look into rescheduling the special service when third graders receive their own siddur (prayer book). We are here to support you and your family in any way possible, please let us know. - Rabbi Karen and Rabbi Micah
3rd Grade Your student’s primary Hebrew learning is on Alef-Bet Quest. Please log on to your account. Students should be able to do about 2 lessons in a 55 minute session. Or you could break up the computer time into two 25 minute sessions in a week. Some students have kept up with the program through the year and are caught up to lesson 17, some students have not logged on for several weeks, and some students have not logged on at all this year. Leah will be requesting the login link for all students who have not logged on. If you try to login and cannot, contact Leahand she will request a new login link. Remember, the email with login information will come from Behrman House, the Hebrew learning publishing company, not the temple.
Please help your student log on. All lessons have to be completed in order. It is possible to go back and repeat lessons that have already been done for purposes of review. We recommend this. If your student has never logged on, s/he can start with lesson 1 and move forward. The online lessons parallel their textbook. Here are the instructions to log on:
2) After you login in, you should be able to click on an Alef-Bet Quest link
3) Find the “play button” and click to start the program. You will need Adobe flash to run the app.
4) If you have already watched the intro you can click the skip button at the bottom of the page in order to get to the “table of contents” the picture of the seder plate. The plate is made up of “pieces” and each piece is a chapter or lesson. Click a “piece" to start. It is important to make sure that your students are practicing their reading out loud.
