A Message From Your Rabbis
Dr. Martin Luther King frequently shared the following message, “The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.” Often we cannot perceive this trajectory, but there are moments when we suddenly feel the course of history bend toward that ultimate goal. Following our Pride Shabbat last Friday, this week, the Supreme Court affirmed that people who are LGBTQ are protected from discrimination in the workplace according to the Civil Rights Act. Each step we take to address discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender, religion, and race is another step toward healing our world. When the moral arc of the universe finally meets justice, the vision of the Prophet Zechariah is fulfilled, “On that day God will be One, and God’s name will be One" (14:9). Below you can find the response of the Reform Movement to this historic decision. Please also find an important article about the difference between Microaggressions and Microaffirmations by Chris Harrison, a leader in the URJ's Audacious Hospitality Initiative. We are proud that Temple Beth David is a partner in working toward a more inclusive and just world. - Rabbi Karen and Rabbi Micah
We have just installed a new alarm system. This means that your old alarm code will no longer work! If you enter the building you will trigger the alarm. Please contact me at admin@templebethdavid.netand I will enter you into the alarm system. You may request your own easy to remember four-digit code or I can assign one to you. Once I have set you up in the system I will email you with instructions on how to use the new system. Thank you. Tim Holiner, Vice President of Administration

Temple Beth David has been a wonderful support for our Jewish neighbors who are living with food insecurity. Our donations of canned salmon and whole grain pasta are combined with donations from other congregations to provide much needed supplies to families in need. With the pandemic, there is a greater than ever need for food. Here is how you can help! Place an order on Amazon from the Family Table Wish list via this link. (Quantities of 12 cans or 8 boxes are more helpful and less wasteful than delivery of single items). Be sure to have items shipped to the JF&CS Waltham location: 1430 Main Street, Waltham MA 02451 If you are able and willing to do delivery of food to families in need, either from Waltham or Canton, please contact Lisa Katz. Thanks to everyone for their ongoing support in this difficult time!
