Upcoming @ TBD
Lunchtime Talmud Thursday, October 21, 12-1 pm
We are continuing our study of Tamud Brachot (Blessings) with the rabbis. All are welcome including beginners! We will meet at the Temple, along with the Zoom option below.
“Who Is The God Of Jewish Prayer? Searching for the Divine Metaphor in Jewish Worship” On the High Holidays, the primary divine metaphors in the Machzor are rather clear: God is Avinu, “Our Father,” Malkeynu, “Our King” and Daiyanenu, “Our Judge.” With the help of Rabbi Paul Citrin’s (father of Rabbi Micah) new book, I Am My Prayer, we will try to identify the divine metaphors and their implications in the siddur, the daily and Sabbath prayer book. At the same time we will explore the structure of daily and Sabbath prayer and seek to identify any divine metaphors therein. Please bring a prayer book with both Shabbat and weekday liturgy. Prayer books can be borrowed from the temple or you can follow thislink to Mishkan T'filah.
