Lunchtime Talmud Thursday, October 28, 12-1 pm
We are continuing our study of Tamud Brachot (Blessings) with the rabbis. All are welcome including beginners! We will meet at the Temple, along with the Zoom option below.
“Who Is The God Of Jewish Prayer? Searching for the Divine Metaphor in Jewish Worship” On the High Holidays, the primary divine metaphors in the Machzor are rather clear: God is Avinu, “Our Father,” Malkeynu, “Our King” and Daiyanenu, “Our Judge.” With the help of Rabbi Paul Citrin’s (father of Rabbi Micah) new book, I Am My Prayer, we will identify the divine metaphors and their implications in the siddur. We will explore the structure of daily and Sabbath prayer and seek to identify divine metaphors therein. Please bring a prayer book with Shabbat and weekday liturgy. Prayer books can be borrowed from the temple or you can follow thislink to Mishkan T'filah.
